On the VLT HP-UX 10.10 and 10.20 machines, large applications for which helpdesk are responsible are accessed via NFS from te16. There are still some old versions under /diskb on some systems. These should be 'locked' and then later deleted.
The VLT HPUX 9 systems are slowly being phased out, so whenever possible avoid installing more applications there.
The VLT Solaris systems should have applications stored under te1:/software and be NFS mounted.
The ESO Solaris systems mainly use a distributed/NFS-mounted /software server.
