Problem: wa0tcs & wt0tcs: rpc.mountd Dying

Introduction / Philosophy

rpc.mountd on wa0tcs and wt0tcs kept dying without explanation. It happened when LCUs NFS mounted various file systems on these machines. Typically Birger Gustafsson reported this problem.

wa0tcs has been patched and now also wt0tcs since the patch to the former was deemed successful.

Birger has sudo access to restart it on wt0tcs if needs be, but not on wa0tcs. But in either case he knows to contact us to do it, and only if nobody is available will he do it.

Procedure

Run the following command as root on either system:

w*0tcs# /usr/sbin/rpc.mountd -l /var/adm/syslog/mountd.log -t2
